These terms of service (“Terms”) govern your use of theengineerinvestor.co (the “Site”) and any products or free resources you get from it. The Site is operated by Anish Shah, doing business as The Engineer Investor (“The Engineer Investor,” “we,” “us”). By using the Site or buying a product, you agree to these terms of service. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.
Educational content only: not financial, tax, or legal advice
Everything on the Site, including articles, newsletters, calculators, spreadsheets, checklists, guides, and examples, is for general educational and informational purposes only. It is not financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and it isn’t tailored to your situation. We are not acting as your financial advisor, broker, CPA, or attorney, and using the Site doesn’t create any professional relationship.
Real estate investing involves risk, including the loss of money you invest. Example deals, figures, and projections are illustrations, not predictions or guarantees, and past results don’t guarantee future results. Tax rules change and depend on your circumstances. Always do your own due diligence and consult qualified professionals before making investment, tax, or legal decisions.
Products and free resources
- Delivery. Products are delivered digitally: a download link in your purchase confirmation and, for spreadsheet products, a Google Sheets “Make a copy” link. Download links may expire or be limited in number. If you lose access, email us and we’ll help.
- Free resources require a name and email address at checkout so we can deliver them. They’re covered by the same license as paid products.
- Prices are listed in U.S. dollars and may change at any time. Changes don’t affect orders already placed.
- Payment is processed by Stripe. You agree to provide accurate payment information.
- Updates. Where a product page mentions free updates, we’ll provide updated versions of that product at no extra cost while we continue to maintain it. We may improve, change, or retire products at our discretion.
License to use our products
Under these terms of service, when you buy or download a product, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it for your own investing and education. You may:
- Use the product for your own properties and analysis
- Edit your own copy of a spreadsheet or worksheet
- Print copies for your personal use
You may not:
- Resell, share, sublicense, or redistribute the product, or post it publicly
- Offer it, or a modified version of it, as your own product or as part of a paid service
- Remove copyright notices or branding
If you want to use a product with a team or clients, email us about a separate license.
Refunds
Because our products are digital and delivered instantly, all sales are final, except where a refund is required by law. If something goes wrong with a purchase, such as a broken file, a missing download, or a product that isn’t as described, email contact@theengineerinvestor.co and we’ll make it right.
Newsletter and email
If you subscribe to the newsletter or download a free resource, you agree to receive related emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.
Intellectual property
The Site and its content, including text, graphics, logos, spreadsheets, templates, and design, are owned by us and protected by copyright and other laws. Except for the product license above and normal browsing, you may not copy, reproduce, or distribute our content without written permission. Short quotes with a link back to the original page are welcome.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Site. For example, you won’t attempt to gain unauthorized access, interfere with the Site’s operation, scrape it at scale, or use it for anything unlawful.
Third-party services and links
The Site uses and links to third-party services, such as Stripe, Kit, and Google Sheets, and to other websites. We aren’t responsible for their content, policies, or practices, and your use of them is governed by their own terms, not these terms of service. For example, when you open a Google Sheets “Make a copy” link, Google’s Terms of Service apply.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Site and all products are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We try to keep calculations and content accurate, but we don’t guarantee that they’re error-free, complete, or current. You’re responsible for checking any figures before relying on them.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, investment losses, or lost data, arising from your use of the Site or our products, even if we were told such damages were possible. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site or a product will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for that product in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $50.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the Site or products or your violation of these terms of service.
Governing law
These terms of service are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts located there, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
Changes to these terms of service
We may update these terms of service from time to time. We’ll change the effective date above. Continuing to use the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
